Why so much of our kitchen is glass
Glass shows you what is inside. You read the level in a measuring cup from the side, watch dough rise through the wall of a bowl and see what is left in a container without opening it. Most of our glass is borosilicate, the kind that moves between the fridge, the microwave and a preheated oven. USDA FSIS lists heatproof glass among the containers that are safe in the microwave.
Lids are where the pieces differ. The mixing bowls take snap-on lids with inner clips, the storage containers latch on four sides, the casserole has a glass lid of its own, and the pickle jar screws shut so it can turn upside down. Plastic lids stay out of the oven: take them off before the glass goes in.

Questions about the Luvan glass kitchenware
Can your Luvan glass go from the fridge to the oven?
The borosilicate pieces can: the measuring cups, mixing bowls, casserole dishes and storage containers go in a preheated oven. Take plastic lids off first, and do not put an empty dish into a hot oven.
Which Luvan glass pieces have lids you can microwave with?
Use the glass lid of the casserole or our glass splatter cover in the microwave. Plastic lids of bowls and boxes should be loosened or lifted at one corner so steam can escape, as USDA FSIS advises.
Does Luvan glass go in your dishwasher?
Yes, the glass bodies do. Put lids on the top rack, and wash the pickle jar strainer and silicone rings by hand from time to time.
