Measuring cups

Which Luvan measuring cup size do you need?

Pick the size by the biggest amount you measure often. A cup filled to the top line spills on the way to the pan, so leave yourself a little room.

Salads and fruit in Luvan glass bowls on a kitchen counter

Borosilicate glass

One bowl from the fridge to the oven and back

Borosilicate glass is the reason our bowls, cups and casserole dishes move between cold and heat. You mix the dough, cover the bowl and let it rise in the fridge overnight, then the same bowl goes into a preheated oven for a baked dip, and the leftovers go back in with the lid on.

Two habits keep glass going for years. Take plastic lids off before the oven, and do not put a dish straight from the freezer into a hot oven: let it come up to room temperature on the counter first.

  • Fridge and freezerGlass keeps no smell of yesterday's curry and shows what is inside.
  • MicrowaveUSDA FSIS lists heatproof glass as safe in the microwave. Vent the lid.
  • Preheated ovenBowls, cups, casserole and boxes, with the plastic lids off.
  • DishwasherGlass bodies on the bottom rack, lids on the top.

In the kitchen

Luvan at work

Juice poured to the line of a glass cup, salad tossed in a bowl that then goes in the fridge with its lid, a casserole carried to the table by its wide handles, pickles lifted out of a jar that drained its own brine.

This is what the Luvan range is for: the everyday jobs of a home kitchen, done in glass you can see through and with tools that save a few minutes each time.

Questions

Questions about Luvan glassware and kitchen tools

Where can you buy Luvan glassware and kitchen tools?

Every product on this site has a buy button that opens it at our retail partner, where the order, payment, shipping and returns happen at checkout. Prices here are from our last update, and if they differ, the checkout price is the one you pay.

Can your Luvan glass bowls and measuring cups go in the oven?

Yes. The borosilicate measuring cups, mixing bowls, casserole dishes and storage containers go in a preheated oven. Take any plastic lid off first, and let a frozen dish come to room temperature before it goes in.

Which Luvan measuring cup size should you buy first?

The 4 cup (34 oz). It covers most recipes, from a quart of stock to a batch of brine. Add the 2 cup for small jobs or the 6 cup if you mix batter in it. See how to read a measuring cup.

Does the Luvan grape cutter make grapes safe for your toddler?

One press gives you four pieces of a grape. The CDC lists uncut grapes as a choking hazard and advises cutting them into small pieces, and you should still stay with your child at every meal. See our guide.

How long have you been able to buy Luvan?

Luvan has been selling kitchen and home goods since 2015. The glass measuring cups and mixing bowls are still at the heart of the range.
